"I Feel Fine" became number one on December 26, 1964 and remained there for 3 weeks. It was the Beatles' sixth number one and brought the total number of singles entered in the Hot 100 in a single year to 30.
"Come See About Me" by the Supremes gave up the number one slot to "IFF" and in turn the next number one after "IFF" was Petula Clark's "Downtown".
