"Hey Jude", was the first record released on the Beatles' own label, Apple. Despite this, it still had Parlophone's catalogue number 2776! It was the longest song to ever go to number one, 7:11. It entered the Hot 100 at number 10, another record. It became number one on September 28th, 1968, toppling Jeannie C. Riley's "Harper Valley P.T.A." and stayed on top for nine weeks [another record broken].
It gave way to the Supremes' "Love Child".
