"Hello, Goodbye" was number one in Britain for seven weeks, tying "From Me To You as the longest running Beatles chart-topper. In America, "Hello Goodbye", backed by "I Am The Walrus" spent three weeks at number one, beginning on December 30th, 1967. The Monkees' "Daydream Believer" was the previous holder of the slot and John Fred and His Playboy Band took the spot from "Hello, Goodbye" with their single, "Judy In Disguise (With Glasses)", itself somewhat inspired by "Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds".
