Faithfull gravitated into the London pop scene with model looks and a sweet singing voice. She was discovered by Rolling Stones manager Andrew Loog Oldham and was romantically involved for a period with Mick Jagger. Her early work was influenced by the Stones, while her later work, affected by years of pain and substance abuse, was the rock equivalent of Edith Piaf's music, sort of pop-cabaret singing with a throaty delivery.
