Bobby Scott had significant impact on jazz as a performer, teacher, and bandleader. He studied music with Edvard Moritz and Debussy, then worked in his early years with Louis Prima, Tony Scott, and Gene Krupa. In the 50s and 60s Scott recorded trio, combo, and big band albums with Bethlehem, Verve, and Atlantic. A number he composed for a 1961 play "A Taste Of Honey" became a hit for several artists in the 60s. He continued composing, arranging, producing, and performing into the 70s and 80s.
